With arctic like temperatures overwhelming many parts of the US, the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety has some handy resources to help you manage the substantial financial and property damage risk arising from frozen pipes.

And while those in northern regions of the US can have the greatest risk of freezing pipes, according to DisasterSafety.org, home builders in the south may not consider this risk, and place water pipes in vulnerable locations, such as attics, crawl spaces and outside walls without the proper insulation.
